They drive optimized customer experiences, create integrated digital ecosystems across customers and partners, allow firms to benefit from the innovations of digital disruptors, drive operational excellence, and provide a foundation for platform business models.”

Software AG’s webMethods API Management platform plays a significant role in digital transformation—facilitating the use of valuable backend functionality and data in new applications across the internet, mobile devices, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

Wolfram Jost, Chief Technology Officer, Software AG said: “An important factor in the success of Software AG’s webMethods API Management platform is that we recognize APIs (application programming interfaces) and integration are interwoven and yet distinctly separate. A proper balance is critical. While the building of API-based apps is essential for a modern integration strategy, many customers have broader ambitions for APIs, including monetization. The webMethods API Management Platform supports all aspects of the API economy - including, but not limited to, integration.”

The Forrester Wave reported that “Software AG’s new architecture improves its ability to serve diverse API strategies. With an improved product architecture and a new microgateway, Software AG’s solution provides breadth of capability for many types of API strategies.” The report continued by noting that Software AG’s “solution has very strong life-cycle management that, [being] optional but well-integrated with API admin and user portals, provides a solid foundation for mature and disciplined API programs.”

Subhash Ramachandran, senior vice president, Product Management and Marketing, Software AG added: “For businesses to create exceptional digital experiences, build new business models, interconnect apps, and deploy them at scale inside and outside their enterprise, they need the right starting point – a solid integration infrastructure loosely coupled with an API platform. It is this loose coupling that allows for maximum agility along the unpredictable path of digital transformation.”

The Forrester Wave shows Software AG with among the highest scores In the strategy category and stated that Software AG’s “articulation of the future for API management recognizes major forces like the need for dynamic ecosystems, business-focused API management, and diverse means of B2B integration, and its product enhancement plans reflect this.”

Ramachandran concluded: “As we move into the API economy, there are huge opportunities for new and innovative solutions. In our view, Software AG’s positioning in this Forrester Wave demonstrates the strength of our API management product vision and roadmap. We feel that our focus on further development of our API management offering continues to be on enabling our customers to keep pace with the key requirements of digitalization with robust and scalable applications and the development of new digital business models.”
