ARIS Cloud provides an intuitive user interface to enable all stakeholders to participate in your process improvement project. Users can design processes following standard modeling notations like Event-driven Process Chain (EPC) or BPMN™. Modeling is fast and easy through mini toolbars and powerful search capabilities.
In addition to the standard design features, ARIS Cloud Enterprise provides expert process design capabilities enabling you to describe processes more efficiently. For example, you can use fragments to define common process patterns to reuse them whenever you need to.
Modeling conventions are fundamental for designing uniform process models which ensure a common understanding across your organizations. ARIS Cloud comes with preconfigured modeling conventions enabling a fast project start, such as Event-driven Process Chain (EPC) or Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN™).
ARIS Cloud Advanced and Enterprise allow you to customize these conventions based on your needs.
Customer journey mapping
To ensure a good customer experience, you need to design your processes from the outside-in. Understand what your customers want and how they want to interact with your business. Using customer touchpoints, you can align business processes and customer journeys. Switch between business (internal) and customer (external) perspectives at any time.
ARIS Cloud has many model types, object types and a variety of relationships between those objects. To limit these elements a method filter is used. This filter can either be created manually or you can derive it from an existing ARIS database. By applying filters administrators can both make ARIS Cloud easier to use and also enforce corporate standards by implementing modeling conventions.
In all ARIS Cloud editions, you can describe a process model using the language of your choice. In ARIS Cloud Enterprise, you can describe processes using many different languages. Model reviewers can choose their preferred language (for example, English, French or Japanese) to review your models. This capability is critical for global process improvement programs.
In ARIS Cloud Advanced you can use versioning to create alternative instances of the same business process to co-exist in the runtime environment.
In ARIS Cloud Enterprise, you have full version control of your process content. This provides optimal process lifecycle support and makes it easier to track the history of process descriptions and the improvements already implemented.
Release cycle management
ARIS Cloud Enterprise comes equipped with reference models so you can quickly support model approval procedures (process governance). You can modify the reference processes or design your own. This is a critical capability to have if you see an increase in modeling activities in your organization.
This capability, available in ARIS Cloud Advanced and Enterprise, allows consistent merging of the contents of multiple databases into a single master database. In multi-user mode this is important so operational departments can enter their business processes in different databases. Content merge recognizes identical items when conducting a merge and allows the user to decide which item(s) to transfer.
Awareness and acceptance are critical for a successful process improvement project. Drive engagement and participation with our seamlessly integrated social collaboration capabilities like micro-blogging, activity streams or group building in all ARIS Cloud editions.
Attach, upload and manage critical documents within all ARIS Cloud editions. Add checklists, status lists or policies to your processes and link documents that are stored in other content management systems. In the ARIS Cloud Trial you can upload documents up to 250 MB in size. In ARIS Cloud Advanced the maximum total document size is 1 GB, while ARIS Cloud Enterprise has no document size limitations.
The combined knowledge of your employees is your greatest asset. Make sure employees have the knowledge they need on processes and IT environments. With ARIS Cloud they can access the right information in the right context in a collaborative process portal.
ARIS Cloud is based on HTML5 technology to support all common mobile platforms. Share process content seamlessly on mobile devices without installing additional apps. Stakeholders can use the integrated social collaboration environment to follow a process, to stay updated and to suggest improvements.
Overview fact sheet
You don’t have to be a process expert to use ARIS Cloud! All ARIS Cloud editions are designed to let you visualize processes and take full advantage of the content you created without having process management expertise. The overview fact sheet provides key details that define a process. It presents process information, such as process description, persons responsible, process steps (also known as activities), as well as related IT systems. The overview fact sheet is automatically generated from process models stored in ARIS Cloud.
Enjoy step-by-step guidance through a process model with the “steps view.” Click through the activities to drill down into each step of the process. If the process includes decisions, you can choose the corresponding event. You can even go through the process backwards, which is helpful when using mobile devices to reduce complexity. The steps view is automatically generated from process models stored in ARIS Cloud.
This view provides all necessary information in a very structured, table-based manner. The basic table opens first. This is where you change your settings and display a table including all involved roles, and you can add columns, for example, for related IT systems. The table view is automatically generated from process models stored in ARIS Cloud.
The RACI chart view is a simple method typically used to describe how various roles participate in completing tasks for a business process. RACI is an acronym for Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed. RACI is useful within the scope of analysis and the resolution of conflicts that may occur as a result of ambiguous role definitions in cross-functional/departmental processes. The RACI chart is automatically generated from process models stored in ARIS Cloud.
In ARIS Cloud Enterprise, users get role-based access to process information. With this, you ensure all users get the right information to do their job better, faster and smarter.
ARIS Cloud Enterprise allows you to customize your process portal to fit to corporate design standards, change color schemes or add logos. You can also modify the structure as to how process content is being published to your stakeholders.
Make better decisions faster with the help of visual analytics. In ARIS Cloud Enterprise dashboards are easy to build and easy to understand. Show your users the most relevant information with context-aware dashboards that are easy to interpret. Use a wide range of data sources and enrich your existing process models with live data from operational systems.
All ARIS Cloud editions come with a set of preconfigured reports, such as creating a process manual document out of a process model, or exporting process models as a graphic using different output formats.
ARIS Cloud Advanced and Enterprise come with a graphical report builder that helps you design your own reports, such as evaluation of processes in terms of quality or throughput times. Reports can be customized with your corporate logo.
Generate process manuals automatically from process models via a preconfigured report. Create the process manual in the desired format (.doc, .pdf, .odt, .rtf and .docx) for re-use in training manuals (for example, you can list a table of activities, roles, data and systems involved, show tables of risks and relevant controls) and more.
Process times & costs analysis
Compared to as-is processes, to-be processes should result in improvements concerning cost and time. Improvement potential can be identified using the “Analyze times/costs” standard report which is included in ARIS Cloud Enterprise. This report lets you to compare planned improvements with the given times and costs of the current business reality. The analysis can be performed for a single process or multiple processes so that you can easily determine which process steps cost the most and take the most time (including wait times).
Organizational change analysis
See that your organization adapts quickly, while ensuring that people, processes and IT continue to deliver the targeted business outcomes. Use the organizational change analysis capability, provided by ARIS Cloud Enterprise, to analyze the impact of organizational changes concerning application systems and media breaks.
Automatically generate job descriptions with ARIS Cloud Enterprise’s job descriptions report. Help your new hires know instantly which processes they are working on and understand their contribution with an end-to-end view to help increase process quality. At the same time it becomes significantly easier for employers to understand which training, IT systems rights and personal networks a new hire needs to be productive.
Spreadsheet analytics are enabled in ARIS Cloud Enterprise as a very smart way to assign or analyze attributes. You can drag processes onto a spreadsheet canvas to perform calculations based on the attribute data.
ARIS Cloud Enterprise users can use the ad-hoc analysis capability to browse and evaluate content stored in the repository independently of process models. Questions like “Who is using this IT system?” will be answered in seconds with no reporting skills required of the users.
Number of databases
All content is stored in a database to enable object reuse. Your own folder structure keeps your content clear and accessible. You can upload or create different databases in ARIS Cloud. The ARIS Cloud Trial supports 5 databases with a total maximum size of 100 MB, while Advanced allows 20 databases with a total maximum size of 500 MB. ARIS Cloud Enterprise has no database limitations.
With ARIS Cloud Advanced and Enterprise, you can set user permissions for the folder structure. This ensures that not every user can see all process models in a database.
